Remember that just because the court has ruled against you, or the case is not going exactly the way you want it to, does not mean your lawyer is doing a poor job or needs to be replaced.
Look For a Second Divorce Attorney Early
One way to test whether you should look for a new divorce attorney is to ask yourself this question. “If I had to go to court and say absolutely nothing, am I confident that my attorney can effectively present my case to the judge?” If the answer is no, you should probably look for another attorney.
The Advantages and Disadvantages of Replacing Your Divorce Lawyer
The advantage is obvious. You have someone you have confidence in representing you, and even if you do not get what you want, you can at least rest assured that you put on your best case. The downside is that bringing a new divorce lawyer on board is going to cost you extra legal fees. Why? Because your new attorney is going to have to spend some time getting up to speed on your case. That being said, it can be a small price to pay to get competent and effective legal counsel on your side.
