Attorney Deanna Piña

Meet Deanna

Deanna practices family law and family-based immigration law, particularly with the Spanish-speaking population of Nebraska.

She graduated from the University of Nebraska in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, where she volunteered as a research assistant with the Legal Decision-Making research lab as well as the Race and Ethnicity research lab. At the University of Nebraska School of Law, she focused on family law, immigration law, and international asylum law. Deanna has worked in immigration law since 2017 with organizations such as Legal Aid of Nebraska, the Center for Legal Immigration Assistance, the University of Nebraska Immigration Clinic, and the Executive Office for Immigration Review. She participated in the University of Nebraska Family Law Practice Clinic in 2019 and has worked in family law ever since.

Deanna is a member of the Omaha Inns of Court Member and a member at large for the Nebraska State Bar Family Law Section. She is an active member of the Nebraska Bar and an inactive member of the Missouri Bar.

Deanna was the sole author of a feature article in the July 2022 edition of The Nebraska Lawyer, “Representation Without Boundaries: The Intersection of Family Law and Immigration Law.” She also gave a CLE seminar regarding the Intersection of Family Law and Immigration Law. She has been a guest speaker for the American Immigration Lawyers Association 2022 Nebraska/Iowa Conference, the University of Nebraska College of Law, the Nebraska Public Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Bellevue University Camino Latino Center, the Nebraska Hispanic Latino Youth Summit, Partnership 4 Kids, and the Creighton University School of Law.

Deanna gives back to the greater Omaha community through volunteering as a Partnership 4 Kids Mentor with Omaha South High School as well as the Omaha Community Foundation, where she is a Futuro Latino Fund Committee Member. She is a volunteer attorney for Legal Aid of Nebraska, the Volunteer Lawyers Project, and the Pesek Law Spanish Speaking Free Legal Clinic.

She is passionate about helping Spanish-speaking families through their divorce, family law, and immigration cases in Nebraska.
